The event of Long Thanh International Airport officially kicked off phase 1 on January 5, marking a new development step of the country. Accordingly, M.I.I has also signed a cooperation agreement to implement some items in this project.

After many years of waiting, Long Thanh International Airport - Component 3 project invested by Airports Corporation of Vietnam - JSC (ACV) officially started the construction of phase 1 on January 5, marking a new development step of the country.

This is the first important event in 2021 of the transport industry and also the leading key project in the regional aviation field.

About the project of Long Thanh International Airport

Long Thanh International Airport is located in Suoi Trau commune, Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province, about 40 km east of Ho Chi Minh City, 30 km from Bien Hoa city in the southeast direction, next to the national highway. 51A is near Long Thanh town, 5 km from the gateway to Nhon Trach "Industrial City" and 43 km from Tan Son Nhat Airport.

Long Thanh Airport has a width of 5km & a length of 10km with the main entrance to the Airport facing Ho Chi Minh City - Vung Tau Expressway, next to the main airport is the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway connecting to the North South Expressway.

According to the plan, Long Thanh airport will be an air transshipment port of Vietnam and international. Long Thanh airport will be an airport of grade 4F or higher according to ICAO standards. The land area around the airport is about 25,000 hectares, of which the area of Long Thanh international airport is about 5,000 hectares.

It is known that after completing this airport, there are:

- 4 runways (4000 m long, 60m wide) up to the latest international standards that can serve giant double-decker aircraft such as Airbus A380, Boeing 747;

- 4 large and modern terminals with a total capacity of serving 100 million passengers/year. The cargo terminal alone has a capacity of 5 million tons/year.

The Long Thanh Airport project is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2025, which is expected to become one of the leading modern air transport hubs in Southeast Asia.

M.I.I signed a cooperation agreement to implement the project of Long Thanh International Airport

It is expected that Long Thanh International Airport will be completed by 2025 at the latest. In which, the project will be implemented in 3 main phases: 2019 - 2025, 2025 - 2035, 2035 - 2050 and after 2050.

Currently, the appraisal of Long Thanh airport project is proceeding very quickly. The project has also prepared international bidding documents and has 7 winning enterprises including: 2 Vietnamese enterprises, 1 French enterprise, 3 Japanese enterprises, and 1 Korean company participating in the station part.

Accordingly, M.I.I is also one of the names that have signed and cooperated to develop a number of items in this project such as building the project's feasibility study report.
